Utilisation Autre
The works at Utilisation Autre, completed in 2010-2011, were actually conceived a few years earlier, after my arrival to Canada. At that time, I created a series of etchings inspired by memories of Israel, my native country. Gradually, water colours, pastels and inks were incorporated into the etchings, and torn etchings were used to create collages. Throughout, I allowed the mediums and the creative process to be open, thus provoking a tension between creation-destruction, order-disorder, memory and its meanderings. These works examine the concept of home by taking it apart and rebuilding it again and again.
